Life Update

March 12, 2017 … that was the last blog post I made?! Holy heck where have the past almost-4 months gone!?

I’m now just shy of two months from the start of my schooling, Holistic Nutrition! I have received all but one of my 1st semester books and I have begun reading … but my mindset isn’t quite there.

Work is good. Life is good. That about sums it up!

Ok, bye!

Just kidding! But yeah, work is good – there have been some changes to personnel, but luckily I’m still an employee! Life is good – summer is finally here (with a vengeance!) and I am NOT complaining!!

I took a weekend in March to visit a high school friend in Kelowna. Then I took a weekend in April to visit my best friend, also in Kelowna. And I took a second long weekend in May, but just stayed home and relaxed. Otherwise I haven’t had any time (or money – thanks tuition!) for a vacation.

I’m heading home, to Penticton, next weekend to visit my folks and a couple of friends, but it’ll also be a quick trip. I even decided to pay the high cost to fly instead of taking the bus – since it’s such a quick trip, I didn’t want to spend 10 total hours on a bus when I could pony up a bit more cash and fly for 45 minutes each way!

I have made the August-, October-, and November long weekends into 4-day weekends, and I have a week booked off at the end of August when my folks are coming for a visit, and to attend a couple of concerts at the PNE!

June 1st I started a 30-day program with Isagenix. The program is to do “shake days” and 4 “cleanse days”. On the shake days, you ideally replace 2 meals with Isagenix shakes, have one 400-600 calorie meal, and a couple of small snacks. On the cleanse days, you consume 4 servings of Isagenix’s Cleanse for Life product at regular intervals.

Now, I will admit that I was NOT diligent when it came to having 2 shakes a day. Probably 25%-35% of the time was on par … but the rest, well … I wanted a meal.

I lost a total of 7 pounds during this 30-day program, and I’ll reiterate … I DIDN’T FOLLOW THE PLAN 100%!

So I decided to compress the cleanse days into a 12 day program to be completed right before I head home for the visit. This is not abnormal as Isagenix offers a 9-day program, too.

I’ve completed 2 cleanse days already and tomorrow is # 3. As of this morning, I’m down about 3 pounds in 8 days … again, not being 100% on the shake days.

It’s a huge help getting and keeping me motivated on my health journey! Every little bit helps!!!

Other things that have happened is Baunzai turned 11 in June, and Waszabi turned 17 at the beginning of July.

Seventeen. Holy heck! I love that girl so flipping much!

Blogmas Day 22

BLOGMAS DAY 22

3 MORE SLEEPS UNTIL CHRISTMAS!!!

Work was good – it went fast enough. One of my managers and I took some food & cash donations to the food bank today. And when I got back from lunch, he left a gift basket and card on my chair!

How nice! The basket had a bottle of wine, can of Pringles, box of microwave popcorn (will have to see how one pops microwave popcorn without a microwave!), Lindt chocolates, and a book!

One of my other managers gave me a Bath and Body Works 3-wick candle and Starbucks gift card.

Another manager left me a small box of Merci chocolates. And the partner of the group gave me a bottle of wine and a gift card to a group of restaurants!

I was going to return some Old Navy items I’d ordered online, but after getting the Christmas treats, my bag was heavy and I decided to wait until tomorrow for the return.

I came home, fed the furries and had a shower to wash my hair. Then I did my nails, had some wine and then remembered I still needed to have my Advent Calendar tea!

Advent Calendar Day 22: English Toffee

day-22-english-toffee-2

“Need a toffee break? This rich and decadent, all-natural blend of pu’erh, cocoa beans and caramel is the perfect sweet treat. With its mouth-watering aromas of caramel and browned butter, even steeping it feels like a luxury. But with all the benefits of pu’erh – and next to no calories – this is one little indulgence you can feel great about drinking. Try it with hot frothed milk and a shot of coffee liqueur. It just doesn’t get sweeter than that.”

It smells lightly like English toffee and the taste is slight too. I like English toffee, but thought this tea might be a bit sweet. I was pleasantly surprised to the (nice) lack of sweet!

I’m hoping for a 1/2 day tomorrow. None of the managers will be in-office, and while I have stuff that I could do that I’ve been putting off, I would like to scoot away early!

Only 3 more sleeps!

Blogmas Day 14

BLOGMAS DAY 14

I didn’t want to work this morning … at all.

I started to get a headache around 9:30 am, so I drank some water and took some Tylenol. I then had my morning smoothie and more water.

I was feeling a bit like a bug was taking over my body and that I was fighting it. I’m hoping that a good night’s sleep with assist in feeling 100% tomorrow!

I had a nice lunch from Jugo Juice which consisted of the Kale Chicken Caesar flatbread and a Watermelon Wiggle smoothie.

In the afternoon I had a package arrive that I had ordered from Society6 … this one contained the “plain” black hoodie I ordered … but it is “plain” because it has the phases of the moon on the back. Best is that it fits!

I spent an hour setting up for our work Team Social … those who attended all had great comments and praises on the spread and turn out!

Advent Calendar Day 14: Irish Breakfast

day-14-irish-breakfast-2

“Ireland is one of the biggest tea drinking countries around. And trust us, they know their stuff. Traditionally, they go for strong black tea, often simmered on the stove all day long. And this rich, full bodied black tea is no exception. A blend of teas from Assam and Sri Lanka, it brews up nutty, fruity and bold, with hints of wild dark honey – and a robust taste that can stand up to a bit of milk and sugar. If there’s a better way to start the day, we don’t wanna know about it.”

I taste the black tea side of this … but also perhaps it tastes a bit like an Orange Pekoe? This is a nice blend and while it is medium caffeine, I’m hopeful for the “normal” caffeine affect for me! It does say that it would fare well with a bit of milk and sugar … but I don’t add anything to my tea …

Now I’m relaxing while watching the season finale of Survivor!
